While my nickname is “Warrior Princess,” I am most passionate about being a”Prayer Warrior.” According to Wikipedia, a Prayer Warrior is a term used by many evangelical and other Protestant Christians to refer to anyone who is committed to praying for others.” Prayer is a significant part of who I am. I believe with everything that is in me that God hears our prayers and wants us to bare our souls to Him in prayer. He begs us to have a relationship with Him and one of the means of communicating with Him and He with us, is through prayer. Whether we are rejoicing or lamenting, God wants us to be real, honest and transparent with Him. After all, He already knows all things. If you are happy, He will celebrate with you. If you are sad, He will cry with you and wipe every tear from your eyes (Revelation 21:4), and if you are angry with Him, He is our all-powerful, omnipotent God who is able to handle our most fiery anguish and fury.
Many people, young and old alike, are uncomfortable praying. They aren’t sure what to say, or their initial reaction is, “Why bother? ” Many believe that the requests or joys on their minds or hearts aren’t significant to God or that He doesn’t have enough time to answer. Some even believe He is far, far away unable and even unwilling to listen. However, these myths could not be further than the truth. First and foremost, God asks us to pray. “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” (Matthew 7:7-10). So please ask, and do not hesitate to leave your prayer requests here on my blog. I will most certainly pray. Second, God reminds us in Romans 8:26-27 that He will give us the words to say when we pray. So if you are nervous about what will come out of your mouth when you pray: don’t be! “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.” (Romans 8:26) Last, in Philippians 4:6-7, God says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” What an amazing promise!
No matter what you are going through God will give you the peace that passes all understanding and He will answer your prayers. Be a prayer warrior and know your prayers will be answered in one of three ways:
1. Yes (It is God’s will!)
2. No (It is not God’s will; He has something even greater in store for you and yours; He will get you through whatever you are going through, no matter how unpleasant.)
3. Not right now (It is not the right time, yet. He is preparing you for His answer.)
Martin Luther once said, “I have so much to do that I shall spend the first three hours in prayer.” Amen!
Here are some prayers that you can start with, if being a prayer warrior is something unfamiliar to you. We hope these prayers will be the beginning of your journey as a Prayer Warrior.
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those
who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom
and the power and the glory
forever and ever. Amen
